It is here, I find myself, at the reignition of progress.
After a brief hiatus from most things related to computers and education, I spent a good deal of the summer focussing on trudging through the medication regimen and gaining in ability, cognition, and strength, as well as spending quality time with my kids. I can say that having a more clear mind allows me to take this current fall term in college head-on and without as much distain. I also found solace in the option to enroll in an elective that has lower stakes. This gives me more time to reacquaint myself to the system of learning, the particular demands of this college, and the balance of other household duties that are inherent of not being disabled from illness.
This is a good point to mention that this might well be my last month on antibiotics. I have shown a lot of improvement, and my doctor does not administer final testing due to the likely residual presence of antibodies that indicate Lyme. Essentially, we will have one final encounter and I will end my treatments. Following that, I will continue probiotics and a few herbal supplements until they run out or the end of the calendar year.
I was able to construct one of the walls for my bedroom, extend another wall, and formulate the plan for where the final wall and door will be located. I made additional plans for other elements in the remaining sections of the basement, as well. Finally, I made resolution the layout of my actual room; the previous arrangement was the same since I initially became ill, and changing things marks both the physical capability to do physical labor, as well as the symbolic movement away from that unhealthy part of my past.
I have begun, and completed, the first week of college in this new setting. This class is a psychology course on emotional intelligence, something I feel I can greatly benefit from. I feel satisfied with the work I put into the course this week, and I look forward to the next portions. I appreciated so many of the thoughts and feelings of my peers, and anticipate they will be good to work with on some of the coming group projects.
Lastly, the tickets for Broadway came in for this season, and they include Hamilton, Cats, and Wicked! More to come as I get to see these shows.
Things are looking up.
